How do I determine which services I need?

We develop a specific plan for each client customized to their needs. When we first meet, we will conduct an in-home assessment at no cost. Together you and our coordinator of services will assess the needs and put your service in place.

Who do you employ?

We only employ qualified workers who have extensive experience. Prior to hiring, we conduct a thorough screening process which includes reference checks, police screening, College of Nurses history checks, and drivers abstracts. Our caregivers are also bonded and insured.

How do we start services?

All you need to do is call 519-432-1510. We are available 24hrs a day. We can initiate service within 1 day, but within hours if needed.

How do we select a caregiver?

Once the initial assessment has been completed, we match you up with someone who we feel will be a good fit (trained skills and personality). You then have the option of meeting them first, or having a day of service to get to know them. Most often we are successful with our matches, however, you may change caregivers at any time for any reason.

What are the costs associated with care?

According to John Hancock’s 2011 Cost of Care Survey, other senior care options are even more expensive that non-medical care:

  • The 2011 average cost of a private long term care facility room was $235 a day/ $85,775 annually.
  • The 2011 average cost of a semi-private long term care facility room was $207 a day/ $75,555 annually.
  • The 2011 average cost for a month in an assisted living facility was $3,270 a month/ $39,240 annually.

Home care services can be as little as $45 per week.

What happens if we need to change the schedule?

Simply call the office and let us know. Often we can reschedule a time that week that best suits you.

How is Medical Priorities different than other agencies?

We are here to adapt to your life-style and your requested needs, never the other way around. Our variety of services means you do not have to spend endless hours calling around making appointments. Should I stay in my home or move to a facility?

Staying in your home is a priority for many people. The comforts and memories are priceless, and don’t have to be given up so quickly. Every client has different wants and needs. Staying in your home is often less costly over the long term than moving to an institution.

Can we still have these services if we already live in a retirement or long-term care home?

All of our services can be utilized whether you are in your own home, facility, and or hospital.

How many of your services can we have at one time?

Our greatest asset to you here at Medical Priorities is the access to so many different services. Many of our clients choose to utilize a number of services, but there is no limit or minimum requirement.

Will I have the same person each visit?

Once we have obtained a good fit we schedule the same caregiver or team of caregivers for as long as you require the care.

Am I locked into a contract?

No, you do not sign a contract.

My spouse is the one requiring the care, where do I fit into the scenario?

We would be in your home to provide for both of your needs.

What qualifications do your Caregivers have?

Our caregivers are Health Care Aids, Personal Support Workers, retired Registered Nurses, retired Registered Practical Nurses and experienced Caregivers. There is a Registered Nurse or a Registered Practical Nurse on call 24 hours a day.
